This book is a wonderful "field guide" of cultivated orchid species. Over 1100 species are described, at least half of them are shown in a picture, and there is a very brief introduction for each genus, with distribution notes and cultivation hints. Mostly, it gives you an insight into the extraordinary variety of orchid flowers. Good information at a good price.

introduction into the subject. If you want thorough culture information
for one of your plants, you'll need another book.
